Day Hikes of Hunza

Day 1

Drive from Islamabad to Chilas. drive (474km / 12-13 hrs drive) by coach to Chilas on Karakorum Highway. Overnight at hotel. The journey on the Karakoram Highway is most exciting and thrilling. It is a monument to the engineering feast and one of the most spectacular roads and the world’s highest metalled border crossing. It connects Pakistan and China stretching over a distance of 1300km between Islamabad and Kashgar, winding through three mountain ranges and following the ancient Silk route along the Indus Valley to the Chinese border at Khunjerab Pass.

Day 2

Drive from Chilas to Hunza. (235km / 5-6hrs) Overnight at hotel. Hunza Valley is one of the most popular destinations in Pakistan among tourists, photographers and painters. The valley offers extremely different panorama in different seasons. Summer is green and spring is white while in autumn the whole valley turns into red, yellow and orange.

Day 3

After breakfast, visit to Baltit fort and then hike to Duiker. From there you will have magnificent views of Peaks Rakaposhi (7788m), Diran (7266m), Golden Peak (7027m) and Ultar (7388m). Overnight at hotel in Duikar.

Day 4

Day hike to Ultar glacier with pack lunch and later on overnight in Karimabad..

Day 5

Drive to Nultar Valley and later on proceed to Gilgit to spend the night at a hotel.

Day 6

After breakfast drive to Besham and overnight stay.

Day 7

Drive back to Islamabad
